can i eat once a day plus drink shakes and lose weight?

Question by kinda lost: can i eat once a day plus drink shakes and lose weight?
I know eating one meal a day is bad for you but what if you eat only one regular meal a day and drink 2-5 shakes for the rest. Like still eating 3-6 meals but most of them are just in liquid form, is this ok? Won't my metabolism still be going great? will i lose weight? Will it stay off that way?

Medifast encourages this (5shakes) and I want to be sure it's ok before I join.
